AI TRANSCRIBER BETA

AI Transcriber

A beta feature that analyzes a recording or audio file and converts it to MIDI.

About this page

AI Transcriber is a beta feature that records your guitar performance in the app, converts the recording to MIDI, and generates standard notation and TAB.

How it works

After you finish recording, the remaining steps run automatically.

  1. 01

    Record your guitar

The app records your performance from the selected input device.

  2. 02

    Convert the recording to MIDI

In the background, AI analyzes pitch and note timing and generates MIDI data.

  3. 03

    Generate notation and TAB

The generated MIDI is saved to the Recorded album, loaded automatically, and displayed as a score.

Before you begin

  • In Recording Audio Device under Settings, select the input device connected to your guitar
  • Calibrate input latency if necessary
  • Record in an environment with minimal non-guitar sound and strong reflections

Steps

  1. 01

    Open AI Transcriber

Open AI Transcriber (Beta) from the application menu.

  2. 02

    Configure the recording

Set Tempo, Rhythm Quantize, Recording Instrument, and Tuning for your performance. On your first attempt, leave the other options at their defaults.

  3. 03

    Start recording

Press Record and play your guitar. The status shows Recording while capture is active.

  4. 04

    Stop recording

Press Stop when you finish playing. MIDI conversion starts automatically, so wait for processing to complete.

  5. 05

    Review the generated score

When processing finishes, the MIDI is saved to the Recorded album and selected automatically. Play it back and review the transcription.

  6. 06

    Edit the TAB if needed

Use TAB Editor to adjust string and fret positions or performance markings, then save your changes.

Main recording settings

SettingPurpose
TempoSets the tempo of your performance and the generated song.
Rhythm QuantizeAligns detected note timing to a rhythmic grid such as sixteenth notes or triplets.
Recording InstrumentSpecifies the guitar, bass, or other instrument being recorded.
TuningSets the tuning used for the generated TAB.
SensitivityAdjusts how readily the recording is detected as notes.

Improving transcription accuracy

  • Use a strong guitar signal without clipping the input
  • Reduce non-guitar sounds such as conversation, television, or metronome bleed
  • Strong noise, multiple instruments, excessive distortion, or reverb may reduce accuracy
  • Test a short phrase before recording a longer performance

Important

AI Transcriber is a beta feature. Results vary with the performance and recording environment, so use TAB Editor to make corrections when necessary.
